NYSC defends N4,000 online registration charge, beginning with the 2014 Batch ‘C’

The National Youth Service Corps has defended its online registration for corps members saying the computerization would ease the rigorous processes involved in the collection of call-up letters.

The NYSC specifically doused insinuations concerning the N4,000 charge during registration which it said was for the benefits of the new platform.

Tragedy: Boko Haram attacked our building ─ T.B. Joshua

The founder and General overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet T. B. Joshua has said Boko Haram may be responsible for the collapse of a six-storey building in the church premises.

Joshua, who told members of his church on Sunday not to be afraid, said the attack was targeted at him and not at them.

The prophet made it clear that the collapse of the six-storey building at around 11.45am on Friday which led to the death of no fewer than 16 persons was a Boko Haram attack.

Ebola: PSN calls for collaboration in health sector

In a bid to combat the deadly Ebola virus disease and other communicable diseases affecting the country, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria has called for harmony and collaboration among the various interests in the nation’s health sector.

The society made this known at the 2014 annual pharmacy week of its Edo State Chapter.

It stated that a holistic approach to the crises affecting the sector would pave the way for healthier nation, rather than attempting to resolve union crisis, as they affect doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and other health workers.

Ebola Crisis: Fourth Sierra Leonean doctor dies from Ebola

A fourth Sierra Leonean doctor, a woman, died Sunday after contracting the dreaded Ebola virus, a top health official said, while a Dutch charity repatriated two doctors suspected of having been contaminated with the disease.

Doctor Olive Buck, who was in charge of Lumley Government Hospital in the Sierra Leonean capital, tested positive for Ebola on Tuesday and was admitted to the Connaught Hospital in central Freetown.
