International Cancer Awareness October 2015

The Medicaid Cancer Foundation (MCF) is a vehicle created by Medicaid to support cancer patients, promote cancer awareness and drive community cancer campaigns for undeserved populace in Nigeria. We provide support to guide people through the cancer experience, bring them together to fight cancer—and work for a world in which our fight is no longer necessary.

MCF aims to provide information, skills and resources to detect cancers at the early stage, thereby reducing the mortality rates. Currently, approximately sixty four percent (64%) of newly diagnosed Nigerian patients die within two years (2 years) while most men are diagnosed with already advanced disease. Alarmingly, one hundred and sixteen thousand (116,000) Nigerian women die from breast cancer annually.

October is the designated month by the WHO as International Breast Cancer Awareness month. Medicaid Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been at the forefront of cancer advocacy in Northern Nigeria for 6 years now. We have become a trusted brand and made great impact.
